In addition to creative ability, business management and computer skills, a minimum initial Franchise fee starting from $8,500 (depending on the geographic area) which covers geographic protection; our school of design, management and marketing; operations manual; software; trademark and copyright usage privilege) is required of qualifying applicants. Few businesses offer such a large income potential as the gift basket industry does while requiring so small a start-up investment. That coupled with so much emphasis on the supposed ease of starting your own out-of-home business, it’s not surprising that it attracts so many newcomers. Anybody can read a book on how to design a basket, come up with a catchy name, buy inventory, run an ad, and be “in the business”! But not just anybody can stay in the business let alone realize its true income potential. As is so often the case, that old "80/20" rule still applies. 20% of the operators do 80% of the business and the reason is amazingly simple.

Originating in 1988, Creative Compliments began in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, as an out-of-home enterprise long before it was fashionable to be so. Since then, under the astute management of its founder, and design award winner, Ellie Richardson, it is now even outgrowing its current retail showroom and warehouse facility. Additionally, with the remarkable success of it’s Regina Affiliation, since opening in 2003, more than ever it remains Saskatchewan’s #1 gift basket business.

The Creative Compliments philosophy has always been crawl before you walk, walk before you run, and now with the two outlets in operation and the gift basket business sector developing so rapidly, its proven formula with emphasis on creative design, unique products, effective marketing and dedication to unparalleled customer service (we are the winner of Tourism's Customer Service Excellence Award), position it to surpass the industries’ already staggering growth expectations for the coming year.

Current expansion plans permit for additional franchises for selected geographic areas, throughout Canada, and to applicants most suited to the Creative Compliments gift basket "business" concept. Successful applicants must not only demonstrate their financial integrity but will also possess a business background, strong interpersonal skills, reasonable computer and internet familiarity and, most importantly of all, a gift for creative design. A mix not easily found in an individual although sometimes in a couple or partnership. Additionally, the franchises require a full-time commitment from the franchisees.

In return, franchisees enjoy exclusive rights to a specific franchise geographic area and, at the beginning, attend the week long Creative Compliments design, management & marketing school. Thereafter, we work closely with our Franchisee so as to have them “up and running” within approximately 45-60 days of acquiring the franchise. And that’s just the beginning!

From that day forward we’re with you all the way because your success is our success. Our royalty fees underwrite a continuous program of on-going support in the form of: container and ingredient product sourcing; gift basket design & development; internet website on-going management, as well as e-mail orders direct to the franchisee; development and preparation of media advertising materials; consultative support of head office management and, as we grow, that of other franchisees in the network and referral orders resulting from the franchisee’s participation in an already established north american network of gift basket operators.
